Leeds Man Jailed for Over 11 Years in Shocking Sex Trafficking Case

Anghel Iordache, 49, from Harehills, was handed an 11-year prison sentence at Leeds Crown Court earlier this month. This brutal crackdown follows a police investigation launched in March after a welfare check led to his arrest.

Two Women Rescued, More Victims Sought

During the probe, officers found two vulnerable women at Iordache’s address and put safeguarding measures in place. Detectives from Leeds Child Vulnerable to Exploitation Team (CVET) believe Iordache may have trafficked other women into the UK for sexual exploitation.

Police Urge Hidden Victims to Speak Out

Detective Inspector Al Cheyne said:

“I hope this outcome encourages people to report any activity linked to modern slavery so we can act alongside partners to stop those behind this horrific crime.”

He added:

“With Iordache now behind bars, we urge any women who believe they were trafficked by him to come forward. Our specially trained officers will support you and work discreetly to bring offenders to justice.”
