Third Man Arrested in Shocking Oldham Kidnap
Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team has made a third arrest over the terrifying kidnapping of an elderly man in Oldham.
The horrifying attack happened on the evening of September 15, 2024, around 9pm on Lee Street. The victim, an elderly man walking home, was forcibly dragged into a black car, blindfolded, and threatened for money and valuables. He was then viciously attacked before being dumped in the dark on a road in Rishworth, West Yorkshire.
Three Arrests So Far
On September 22, police arrested a 39-year-old man in Blackpool on suspicion of kidnapping. He is currently in custody awaiting questioning. This follows two previous arrests linked to the case:
- An unidentified man who was arrested and later released on bail.
- Shohad Miah, 24, from Royton, charged with kidnapping, grievous bodily harm, robbery, and intentional strangulation.
Police Reassure Public After Shocking Crime
Detective Inspector Emma Hulston said: “We have now arrested three men in connection with this shocking incident, and we will continue to make good progress with our enquiries.”
She added the crime is believed to be an isolated case with no ongoing threat to the community.
Victim Receiving Support, Police Seek Witnesses
The victim managed to get help by knocking on a door at about 10.40pm on the night of the abduction. He is now receiving specialist support as he recovers from the ordeal.
