Luton Man Jailed for Life Over Harrow Shooting
Amar Bhargava, 29, from Cavalier Close, Luton, has been handed a life sentence with a minimum of 25 years and four months behind bars. He was convicted of attempted murder after a shocking shooting on Harrow streets in 2019.
Along with the life term, Bhargava received 20 years for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. This runs concurrently with other sentences for related firearms offences.
Co-Defendants Get Heavy Sentences
Eon Trow, 27, of Harmony Terrace, Harrow, was found guilty on multiple charges including three counts of firearm possession, possession of ammunition, and using fraudulent firearm certificates. He was sentenced to 16 years and six months in prison.
Meanwhile, 43-year-old 1 Murray from Cornelius Crescent, Milton Keynes, pled guilty to two counts of firearm possession and ammunition possession. He received a six-year jail term but was cleared of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Violent Attacks Tied to Fraudulent Gun Certificates
On 3 November 2019, Bhargava and Trow fired three shots into a parked car on Augustine Road, Harrow. The 39-year-old driver was seriously injured and required ongoing hospital treatment after the attempted murder attack.
The following year, the duo returned to Harrow and poured petrol on another car before shooting it with a shotgun. They fled the scene in a black Smart car linked to Murray.
Police recovered the shotgun and ammunition at Murray’s home, alongside another weapon confirmed to be used in the November attack. Both firearms were bought using fraudulent certificates obtained by Bhargava and Trow across multiple locations.
Cops Praise Tough Sentences
“These sentences reflect the severity of the crimes,” said Detective Constable Steve Renny of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.
“The victim shot in his car will live with the consequences for the rest of his life. It was pure luck he wasn’t killed. Both him and the car owner in the second attack were innocent victims of mistaken identity.”
“Firearms have no place on our streets. We’ll continue hunting down those who carry and supply them to keep London safe.”
