Philip Schofield’s Brother Guilty of Sex Abuse Against Teen

Timothy Schofield, 54, the brother of TV presenter Philip Schofield, has been found guilty of sexually abusing a teenage boy over a three-year period starting when the boy was just 13.

Shocking Abuse Unveiled at Exeter Crown Court

Timothy Schofield admitted to watching porn and masturbating with the schoolboy but insisted it only happened after the boy turned 16. The jury, however, rejected his claim and found he began abusing the victim years earlier, including coercing him into sexual acts.

Despite pleading not guilty to 11 counts of sexual offences, Schofield was convicted at Exeter Crown Court. The former IT technician blamed his actions on “mental health struggles” and suggested the victim was exaggerating. His defence even argued he was guilty in the court of public opinion but denied any crime had been committed.

Prosecutor Hits Back: “This Is Criminal Abuse, Not Morality”

Prosecutor Robin Shellard ripped into the defence, stating: “We are not dealing with morals, but with criminal abuse against a child.” He stressed the law exists to protect children under 16 from exploitation by adults.

“The boy’s allegations are not motivated by hatred or revenge,” Shellard said. “The evidence shows the abuse did happen.”

Details of Conviction and Next Steps

  • Three counts of causing a child to watch sexual activity
  • Three counts of engaging in sexual activity in front of a child
  • Three counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity
  • Two counts of sexual activity with a child

Sentencing will take place at a later date. The conviction has sent shockwaves through the public, with many awaiting justice for the young victim.
