Firefighters Rescue Trapped Heron Gulls from Isle of Wight Roof

A heroic crew from Freshwater Fire Station rushed to save two fledgling heron gulls stuck on a roof in Freshwater today.

Trapped by Loose Tiles

The young gulls had caught their feet in loose roof tiles, unable to free themselves. Firefighters used a 13.5-metre ladder, roof ladder, and specialist working-at-height gear to reach and rescue the birds.

Safe and Sound in RSPCA Care

After being freed, the gulls were handed over to the RSPCA. Fortunately, both birds escaped without injury and are now in expert care.
