QEII Bridge Climbers Face Trial After 158 Days on Remand
The high-profile trial of Marcus Decker and Morgan Trowland kicks off at Basildon Crown Court at 10:30am on Monday, 27 March. The pair have been behind bars for 158 days after scaling the QEII Bridge in November 2022.
Decker and Trowland, linked to the Just Stop Oil campaign, demanded the government stop issuing licenses for new fossil fuel projects across the UK.
Animal Rebellion Protesters Also in the Dock
On the same day, five Animal Rebellion activists will face trial at Southwark Crown Court, also starting at 10:30am. They’re charged with criminal damage worth over £5,000 following protests at Buckingham Palace in August 2021.
Lengthy Legal Showdowns Loom
Both court battles are expected to drag on for more than a week, keeping climate activists under the legal spotlight.
