Greater Manchester Police have announced the retirement of PD Bren, a highly respected dog from the Tactical Dog Unit, after six years of loyal and brave service across the region. Bren, alongside handler PC Oram, became one of GMP’s most recognisable working dog teams, even featuring on BBC Crimewatch, and earned accolades including Tactical Dog Handler of the Year 2024.
Final Shift Drama
On his last day on duty, Bren exhibited exceptional bravery when a detained man tried to escape and assaulted both PC Oram and a colleague during what should have been a routine close to his career. Bren quickly intervened to re-detain the suspect, ensuring the safety of his handler and the fellow officer.
Celebrated Service
Throughout six remarkable years, Bren tracked criminals, located missing persons, and operated in the harshest environments throughout Greater Manchester, proving an invaluable asset to the police force and the community.
Well-deserved Retirement
