Brazen Daylight Attempted Cash Van Heist Foiled at BP Garage
Three men are due in court after trying to snatch a cash box from a security van driver outside a BP garage in Woodthorpe, Mansfield Road.
Attackers Fail to Grab Cash, Flee Scene in Getaway Car
The shocking incident happened around 2.40pm last Friday (4 November 2022). Two men lunged at the driver as he carried the cash box. They tried to wrestle it from his hands but failed. The pair then legged it, jumping into a waiting car that sped off.
Police Nab Suspects in Staffordshire, Three Arrested
Police quickly identified the suspect vehicle and stopped it in Staffordshire. Three men inside were promptly arrested and now face attempted robbery charges. One is also charged with driving without insurance.
Detective Constable Agnes Wakenhut of Nottinghamshire Police said: “This was a very serious and brazen attack on a security driver in broad daylight. We always respond swiftly to violent incidents like this. We have worked hard to bring charges and our investigation continues.”
Suspects Named, Court Appearance Set
- Georghita Ciucur, 34, of Cole Hall Lane, Birmingham
- Marius Ilie Oana, 27, of Shenstone Road, Soho, Birmingham
- Gymi Adrian Tery Virtan, 24, of Shenstone Road, Soho, Birmingham (also charged with driving without insurance)
The trio are scheduled to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday 7 November 2022.
