Police Officer Hurt in Aldeburgh Crash Now Home After Shocking Collision
A police officer injured in a dramatic road traffic collision in Aldeburgh has been released from hospital. Two men arrested in connection with the incident remain under investigation.
High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Injury
The crash happened around 4pm on Monday 28 May in Aldeburgh’s High Street. Officers ordered three motorcyclists to stop. Two ignored the warning and tried to flee. During the chase, one motorcyclist collided with the officer, causing serious injuries.
The officer was rushed to James Paget Hospital with what was first feared to be a broken leg. Thankfully, scans showed no break, but the leg is badly bruised and swollen with suspected ligament damage.
Suspects Arrested But Released Under Investigation
Police arrested two men from Beccles after a local search:
- 18-year-old man – suspected of causing grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, drug-driving, failing to stop for police, driving without insurance, driving without a proper license, no MOT, and possession of Class B or C drugs.
- 19-year-old man – suspected of dangerous driving, drug-driving, failing to stop for police, and possession of Class B or C drugs.
Both men were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. They have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Public Appeal for Witnesses
The injured officer thanked the public for their help at the scene and is now recovering at home.
