Brothers Jailed for Targeting Women Outside London Nightclubs
Two Camden brothers have been locked up after sexually assaulting women leaving bars and clubs. Nazmul Ahmed, 26, and Selim Ahmed, 32, were found guilty following separate trials at Wood Green Crown Court.
‘Ruthless Predator’ Nazmul Gets 16 Years
On 1 May, Nazmul Ahmed was sentenced to 16 years behind bars with an extra four years on licence. He will remain on the sex offenders register for life. The judge branded him a “predator” and a “ruthless and callous serial sex offender”.
Selim Ahmed faces sentencing on 22 May.
Victims Told: ‘Don’t Trust Rides from Strangers’
The chilling crimes span late 2018 to early 2019. One woman was approached by men in a car on Russell Square. She dozed off and woke to find Nazmul sexually assaulting her.
On 2 March 2019, another woman awoke in a hotel room with no memory of the night before. She discovered she was raped and £3,000 stolen from her bank – money Nazmul took with help from his then partner, Dora Vavrova.
Another victim fell asleep in Nazmul’s car after a Shoreditch night out and woke to assault and theft.
Selim’s Attack & Kidnap Linked by Police
Selim Ahmed was tied to a similar attack in January 2019. Posing as a taxi driver, he tricked a woman into his car before sexually assaulting her and attempting to steal money from her bank account.
Levi Croll, a passenger in the car, was also found guilty of kidnap alongside Selim. Both await sentencing on 22 May.
Police Praise Victims and Urge Others to Speak Out
Detective Inspector Louise Caveen said: “Nazmul and Selim Ahmed are predatory offenders who deliberately targeted vulnerable women to sexually assault and defraud them.”
“Thanks to a thorough investigation, we proved their guilt beyond doubt. We are still probing possible further offences. I thank the brave women who came forward. I hope these sentences will bring some comfort and protect others.”
“My team is trained to support sexual offence victims. I urge anyone affected to come forward.”
