Double murder charge after body found in Enfield home

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command have swooped on a grisly scene in Enfield. Two people have been charged with murder after a man’s body was discovered inside a house.

Couple charged over shocking death

Gary Hopkins, 36, and Stacey Docharty, 28, both from Hartmoor Mews, Enfield, were hit with multiple charges on Wednesday, 29 August. They face murder, perverting the course of justice, and preventing the lawful and decent burial of a body.

Police act quickly after grim find

Officers were called to the property around 2pm on Monday, 27 August following a tip-off. The body of a man was uncovered inside. While the identity is known to police, formal confirmation is still awaited. Next of kin have been informed.

Hopkins and Docharty were arrested at the scene and remain in custody. They are due in Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 30 August.
