Two crooks have been hauled before Swindon Crown Court after a chilling knife robbery left a man fearing for his life.
Knife Held to Throat in Horrific Late-Night Raid
Matthew Brown, 38, from Ermin Street, and Laura Taylor, 36, of Affleck Close, Toothill, both pleaded guilty to robbing a man in his 40s on the night of May 1, 2024. Taylor lured the victim from his home in Stratton St Margaret. Outside, Brown pressed a knife to the man’s throat, demanding cash. The terrifying ordeal went down near a block of flats, with the victim forced to hand over his money before the pair fled into the darkness.
Police Crack Down on Violence
Detective Constable James Pugh condemned the “targeted attack” on a known victim. He said, “This level of violence is not welcome in our communities and we will continue to target those intent on causing fear amongst others.” Thankfully, the victim escaped with only minor injuries.
Sentencing Looms for Swindon Duo
- Brown admitted robbery, affray, and carrying an offensive weapon.
- Taylor pleaded guilty to affray.
Both face sentencing on July 9, 2026.
