Teen Stabs Man in Vicious Attack in Southampton

Alfie Breakspear, 18, from Radcliffe Road, Southampton, admitted to a brutal stabbing at Portsmouth Crown Court on Thursday, 6 July. He pleaded guilty to Section 18 wounding with intent.

Late-Night Attack Leaves Victim Seriously Injured

Police were called just before 3am on Thursday, 2 March 2023, after a 20-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his abdomen at a property on North Street. The victim was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but has since been discharged.

The court heard that a heated argument erupted inside the address between Breakspear and the victim. Breakspear then inflicted two stab wounds—one to the abdomen and another to the victim’s buttock.

Sentenced for Stabbing and Earlier Robbery

Breakspear’s criminal record doesn’t stop at this attack. He was also sentenced for a robbery in Southampton from September 2022.

On Sunday, 11 September, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were threatened in Bevois Valley. The older boy was punched in the face, sustaining minor injuries, and his bike was stolen during the incident.

Police Warn of Deadly Consequences of Knife Crime

“The victim was taken to hospital with initially life-threatening injuries. It’s very lucky this didn’t have far worse consequences,” said Police Staff Investigator Nikki Ginn of Hampshire CID.

“Picking up a bladed weapon risks killing or seriously injuring someone. Thankfully the victim survived, but it could have ended much worse.”

Ginn added: “We continue proactive efforts to target knife carriers and remove weapons from the streets. We urge anyone considering carrying a knife to think about the serious consequences.”

Havant Chief Inspector Habib Rahman vowed to keep knife crime a top priority.

“We will relentlessly pursue criminals carrying knives to keep our communities safe. If you know anyone carrying a knife or fear knife crime, please report it. The community’s help is vital in stopping this violence.”
