Two men have been locked up following a daring string of car thefts across Cheshire and North Wales.
Speedy Sentencing at Chester Crown Court
Kyle Draper, 21, and Benjamin Evans, 20, both homeless, appeared at Chester Crown Court on April 2. They pleaded guilty to four burglaries, two thefts, and dangerous driving. Draper was sentenced to 42 months, while Evans received 45 months behind bars.
Cross-Border Crime Spree Revealed
Cheshire Police uncovered the crimes that occurred between February 2 and 3, spanning North Wales and Cheshire.
- On the evening of February 2, CCTV captured two stolen cars – a Hyundai and a Seat Arona – travelling together from North Wales to Chester.
- At a property in Upton, an Audi Q3 was snatched.
- The stolen Audi and Seat then headed to Crewe, where the Hyundai was abandoned and recovered.
- A Volvo was stolen in Crewe, with the Audi and Volvo later tracked moving between Cheshire and Staffordshire.
Dramatic Police Chase Ends with Arrests
On February 3, officers from the Roads and Crime Unit spotted two stolen vehicles and gave chase. Both drivers ignored orders to stop and drove recklessly. The Audi crashed in Staffordshire, leading to Draper’s arrest. Meanwhile, the Volvo sped into the West Midlands before crashing, with Evans caught at the scene. Police seized mobile phones and confirmed that both men’s footwear matched impressions found at the Upton address.
PC Jack Ryder said: “These two reckless young men targeted so many addresses in such a short period of time but didn’t count on us closing in and stopping them in their tracks. Thanks to joint efforts across departments and regions, we took them down and brought justice for the victims. We’re relentless in chasing those who break the law.”
