Two Men Charged After Fatal Hit-and-Run in Gillingham
Detectives have charged two men following a deadly hit-and-run on the A289 in Gillingham on Monday, 29 December 2025.
Hit-and-Run Horror on A289 Gads Hill
At around 12:10pm, an 89-year-old pensioner, Thomas Wallace, was hit by a grey Mercedes estate. The driver sped off, leaving Thomas critically injured.
The abandoned car was later found on Eastcourt Lane, but both suspects had fled on foot.
Emergency teams discovered Thomas on Grange Road. Despite efforts by the South East Coast Ambulance Service, he tragically died at the scene.
Suspects Charged and Back in Court
On 1 January 2026, 28-year-old Albert Matraxhiu from Edgware was charged with death by dangerous driving.
His accomplice, 29-year-old Erald Paci from Chatham, faces charges of perverting the course of justice.
Both Albanian nationals are remanded to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 2 January 2026.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information, dashcam, or CCTV footage to come forward.
