Two men found guilty of cold-blooded murder in Southall car shooting
Malique Thompson-Hill of Maidenhead and Jermiane Paul from West Drayton have been convicted of murdering 26-year-old Khalid Farah. The chilling shooting happened while Khalid sat in his parked car in Southall.
Plot to kill sparked by ongoing dispute
The Old Bailey heard how the pair planned the attack amid an ongoing feud. In the early hours of 11 November 2017, Khalid was in his car on Lady Margaret Road with a friend. Unaware, Thompson-Hill and Paul pulled up in a stolen black VW Tiguan with false plates.
CCTV showed a hooded gunman emerging from the Tiguan, raising a shotgun and firing directly at Khalid’s car. Khalid’s friend fled as the gunman fired again, hitting Khalid at close range. The shooters then sped off in the stolen Tiguan.
Cover-up attempts fail as police close in
After the shooting, Thompson-Hill and Paul abandoned the car just 500 metres from Paul’s home. They got in touch with Joshua Folorunso, who later helped destroy evidence by setting the Tiguan on fire that evening. Despite their efforts, police quickly identified the suspects.
Detectives matched phone data and CCTV footage to link Thompson-Hill and Paul to the car and to each other. Folorunso was also caught after a police stop, with similar evidence connecting him to the crime and cover-up.
Detective calls case ‘complex but solved’
“While we couldn’t prove who fired the fatal shots, it’s clear both men conspired to kill Khalid,” said Detective Inspector Garry Moncrieff.
“Phone records show detailed planning and a determined cover-up involving Folorunso. Khalid was shot at close range and stood no chance.”
“The motive remains unclear but tensions were obvious. This conviction brings justice after a complex investigation.”
“I hope this brings closure to Khalid’s family and friends.”
All three men will be sentenced at the Old Bailey in September. The brutal killing shocked the local community, and police praised the “diligent detective work” that cracked the case.
