Two Caught with £3k Worth of Drugs on Train
Jai Mistry, 23, from Hyde, and Jacob Murray, 24, from Droylsden, have been sentenced to 32 months each at Preston Crown Court. Both men pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A and Class B drugs.
Drugs Destined for Nightclubs and Festivals
Police uncovered messages on their phones showing the MDMA and ketamine were intended for the nightclub and festival scenes. The haul was valued at nearly £3,000.
Routine Train Patrol Leads to Arrest
The pair were arrested during a routine train patrol in July 2018 after the conductor and passengers raised the alarm at Preston station. When police boarded, both men admitted to carrying drugs.
A search revealed they were in possession of MDMA and ketamine. DC Chris Biggs said: “This was a significant haul resulting in almost £3k of drugs destined for the festival and nightclub market being taken off the streets.”
He added: “Drugs will not be tolerated anywhere on the railway. Officers will do everything in their power to prosecute those supplying drugs. This sentence sends a strong message about the consequences of travelling with controlled substances on the rail network.”
