Jewellery Heist Busted: Two More Thugs Sent Down

Callum Knox, 35, and Lee Gibbon, 38, have been locked up for their part in a daring raid on the Beaverbrooks store in Basingstoke’s Festival Place last February.

Raid in Broad Daylight

The pair were part of a gang that drove from Southampton to Basingstoke using stolen cars with cloned number plates. They smashed their way into the shopping centre, wielding sledgehammers to break the windows and scoop up a haul of high-value watches worth a staggering £247,000.

Three Caught Red-Handed, Two Brought to Justice Later

Three offenders – George Mason, 39, Kurtis Lake, 24, and Jamie Dalton, 30, all from Southampton – were nabbed at the scene and have already been jailed. Knox from Eastleigh and Gibbon from Southampton were later identified through forensic evidence and charged.

Sentences Handed Down

  • Lee Gibbon was jailed for two years and nine months for burglary, plus an extra three months for assaulting police. The sentences will run one after the other.
  • Callum Knox received a harsher sentence of three years and 10 months for his role in the burglary.

Detective Constable Paul Beasley said: “This was a pre-planned and targeted burglary where the suspects ended up stealing £247,000 worth of jewellery.”

“Three men were arrested at the scene, but what followed was an extensive investigation by detectives who managed to track down two others involved in the crime.”

“I’m delighted with the result and I hope this reassures local businesses that we take crimes like this very seriously and investigate all available lines of enquiry to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.”
