Boxing Day Nightclub Murder Shocks Birmingham
Two men, Remy Gordon and Kami Carpenter, have been locked up for life over the brutal murder of 23-year-old semi-pro footballer Cody Fisher. The tragic stabbing happened on the dance floor of the Crane nightclub in Birmingham on Boxing Day 2022, sparked by a minor clash just days before.
Premeditated Revenge Ends in Tragedy
The court revealed Gordon and Carpenter planned the deadly attack as payback after “unavoidable” contact between Gordon and Fisher at a Solihull club on Christmas Eve. Smuggling a weapon past security, the pair launched a savage assault that left Fisher with a fatal chest wound.
The victim, once part of Birmingham City’s academy and playing for Stratford Town and Bromsgrove Sporting, was hopelessly outnumbered. Wearin’ masks, the attackers punched, kicked, then stabbed him in under 40 seconds.
Long Prison Sentences for Two Attackers
On April 8, 2024, Gordon was handed a minimum 26-year term, while Carpenter faces at least 25 years behind bars. Both denied the crime but were convicted last month after harrowing trial evidence laid bare their ruthless actions.
Family’s Heartbreaking Tributes
“It is as though I too was stabbed straight through the heart,” said Tracey Fisher, Cody’s devastated mum. Her family’s “life sentence” began the day they lost him.
Jessica Chatwin, Cody’s girlfriend, broke down recalling how he died in her arms. “My life stopped that day,” she said, mourning the cruel loss.
Tracey told reporters the family’s grief will never ease, despite justice being served.
Nightclub Shut After Horror Attack
Following the deadly incident, the Crane nightclub was shut for good. West Midlands Police cited “terrifying risks” including blatant drug use and poor security, calling it a danger to the public.
The community now mourns a promising young athlete taken too soon and faces a sobering reminder of the deadly cost of violence in nightlife venues.
