Drugs Duo Nabbed in Locking Road Sting
Lee Amor, 41, and Catherine Besse, 54, both from Dunster Crescent, were hauled in after a police stop on Locking Road on 26 September last year. Besse was caught carrying a wad of cash, while Amor was busted with class A drugs – which he embarrassingly tried to stash in his underwear.
Heroin and Cocaine Haul Leads to Jail Time
Amor’s sneaky stash was uncovered during a police station search. Follow-up investigations revealed he’d been peddling hard drugs for months. Amor pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine. On Tuesday 24 November, Bristol Crown Court slammed him with a three-year, two-month prison sentence.
The judge ordered all seized drugs and Amor’s mobile phone to be destroyed.
Besse Gets Community Punishment
Besse copped a 12-month community order with a two-month curfew after pleading guilty to being involved in supplying class A drugs.
“The vehicle Lee Amor and Catherine Besse were travelling in had been linked to drug supply and so officers were proactive in stopping the vehicle and searching the pair,” said arresting officer PC Charlie Gates.
“Amor showed no regard for the damage class A drugs cause as he chased illegal profits. He fully deserved his jail time, which would have been longer if he hadn’t pleaded guilty early. We hope this sends a strong message: drug dealing won’t be tolerated and crime does not pay.”
Ongoing Probe Into Crime Profits
Police are now investigating under the Proceeds of Crime Act to seize any assets Amor and Besse gained through their criminal activities.
