Ten Vehicles Torched in Shocking Overnight Arson Spree in Kent

Blaze Breaks Out in Newcastle Hill

Just after midnight on Monday, March 14, 2022, Kent Police were alerted by Kent Fire and Rescue Service to a suspicious car fire on Newcastle Hill. The incident sparked a terrifying night for locals.

Multiple Fires Across Town

Shortly after the initial blaze, more vehicles went up in flames in hotspots including Finsbury Road, Broad Street, Anns Road, Church Road, and Denmark Hill. The chaos didn’t stop there—an occupied campervan was also set alight. Miraculously, no one was hurt, but ten vehicles were badly damaged or destroyed.

Two Ramsgate Men Nabbed

Thanks to swift police action and CCTV footage, two men from Ramsgate were arrested at the scene. A 20-year-old was charged with arson and assault. His 19-year-old accomplice faces arson and possession of cannabis charges.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detectives are continuing their probe and urge anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers should contact Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/47547/22.
