Wildfire Fury Hits Blackwater Heathland Near A30

A massive wildfire has erupted on heathland in Blackwater, Camberley, snarling the skies near the busy A30. Fire crews scrambled to the scene after a flood of 30 emergency calls poured in just after 2pm today.

Firefighters Battle Blazing Inferno

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) confirmed the alarm was raised early this afternoon. Firefighters from Yateley, Rushmoor, Basingstoke, Fleet, and Surrey fire crews have joined forces in a fierce bid to douse the flames.

Armed with hose reels and specialist wildfire units, the team is tackling the blaze which has already ravaged around two hectares of heath.

Thick smoke can be seen billowing over the treetops, with fiery tongues flickering through dense bushes.

Road Safety Alert For Drivers

Despite the fire’s close proximity to the A30, authorities have yet to impose road closures. Yet, they urge drivers and locals to steer clear of the area and keep windows and doors shut to avoid smoke inhalation.

Thankfully, there are no reports of injuries or property damage so far.

Firefighters Brace For Long Haul

Crews are expected to stay on site for hours, fighting to bring the wildfire under control. The cause remains unknown and an official investigation will follow once it’s safe.
