Two Suspects Busted in Orpington Burglary Spree
Two people are set to face court today after being linked to a string of burglaries in Orpington. The suspects were caught on doorbell camera during one raid on August 1, sparking a rapid police crackdown.
Yellow Mercedes Sprinter Leads Police to Arrests
The next day, another burglary was reported involving a distinctive yellow Mercedes Sprinter van. Police traced the vehicle back to an address in dartford/" title="Dartford" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Dartford. On August 2, officers on patrol spotted the van and stopped it based on intelligence gleaned from the investigation.
One suspect was arrested on the spot, found carrying stolen goods. Following further inquiries, this individual was linked to multiple burglaries and taken into custody in Bromley.
Second Suspect Caught After Home Search
A Section 18 search of the first suspect’s home uncovered a second person, who was also arrested and charged. Both suspects now face multiple charges, including burglary and handling stolen goods. The first suspect is also charged with driving without a licence or insurance.
They have been remanded in custody and are due in court today, August 5.
Police Praise Quick Action and Community Support
“On August 1st, suspects were caught on doorbell footage committing a burglary in Orpington,” said a Metropolitan Police spokesperson. “Following another burglary involving a yellow Mercedes Sprinter, we tracked the vehicle to Dartford and arrested one suspect during a stop on August 2nd. Further investigation led to another arrest during a search of the suspect’s address.”
“Both suspects have been charged with multiple offences and remanded for court hearings today. This case highlights the importance of swift police response and community vigilance in tackling property crime.”
