Christmas Day Horror: Woman Threatened with Knife in Rochester Robbery
Kent Police swooped at 3.16am on Christmas Day after a brazen robbery in Rochester’s High Street. A man on a push bike threatened a woman with a knife before snatching her handbag.
Manhunt Ends with Dramatic Arrest at Gillingham Park
Police teamed up with CCTV experts to track down the suspect. When officers approached, the man fled. The chase led to Hilly Fields Community Park in Gillingham. Here, Police Dog Coty sniffed out the suspect, leading his handler to a bramble-covered metal fence.
Hidden in thick undergrowth, the 40-something man from Gillingham was caught and arrested by patrols around 8am.
Suspect Bailed as Investigation Continues
The man is being held on suspicion of robbery and has been bailed until 6 January 2022. Police are still piecing together the incident and urge anyone with information to come forward.
