Tough New Tyre Rules Hit Lorry, Bus and Minibus Drivers

From today (1 February), tyres over 10 years old are banned on front steered axles of lorries, buses and coaches. The crackdown also targets all single wheels on minibuses carrying 9-16 passengers.

On-the-Spot Roadside Checks Ramp Up

Authorities will be enforcing the new tyre laws with roadside checks and during annual vehicle tests. Any tyres found over the 10-year limit or lacking a clear date marking are in the firing line.

Heavy Penalties for Breaking the Rules

The crackdown comes with stiff penalties. Drivers face a £100 fine, endorsable points on their licence, and possibly prosecution if caught with multiple offences.

Stay safe and check your tyres – don’t risk falling foul of the new laws!
