Violent Thug Jailed After Brutal Attack on Woman
A vicious thug is behind bars after savagely beating a woman unconscious – then smashing through the door of a house she fled to for safety.
Unbelievable 45-Minute Assault Ends in Terror
Daniel Chapman, 26, launched a horrific attack in April, punching, kicking, and choking his victim until she briefly lost consciousness. The terrifying ordeal lasted up to 45 minutes.
The woman managed to escape and ran to a nearby house for refuge. But Chapman wasn’t finished. He chased her, kicked the door down, and continued his brutal assault inside.
Threats, Blood, Bruises – The Aftermath
When police arrived on the evening of April 10, the victim was bloodied and bruised from head to toe. Chapman had even threatened to kill her during the attack.
Swift Justice for Victim’s Bravery
Chapman, from Rose Crescent, Whitburn, was arrested and later pled guilty to threats to kill, assault, and criminal damage. On Friday, October 28, Newcastle Crown Court sentenced him to five years and two months behind bars, plus a three-year extended licence.
Detective Constable Gemma Clark of Northumbria Police praised the victim’s incredible courage. She said:
“The victim in this case has shown incredible bravery ever since she was put through this terrible ordeal. It is because of her courage, patience and cooperation that her attacker has now been rightly brought to justice and handed a significant spell behind bars.”
Clark added:
“There is absolutely no place for violence like this in our communities. Chapman has shown he cannot be trusted to live in a lawful society. I sincerely hope this outcome offers the victim some comfort and inspires others to come forward.”
