Weapons Seized and Man Arrested in Edenbridge Crime Crackdown
Kent Police joined forces with Sussex Police on Friday, August 23, 2024, to tackle a spike in drug and vehicle crimes in Edenbridge. The joint raid deployed 14 extra officers to hit the problem hard.
Suspect Nabbed After Suspicious CCTV Spotting
Officers spotted a man acting dodgy on CCTV and quickly swooped. The local lad, in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and involvement in drug supply. A search uncovered a mobile phone, a baseball bat, and an imitation firearm. He also faces charges for possession of an offensive weapon and has been bailed pending further inquiries.
Drugs, Stolen Moped, and Anti-Social Behaviour Targeted
The swoop didn’t stop there. Police seized a moped believed to be used for drug runs in Edenbridge and Sevenoaks and recovered a stolen Honda. They also issued three traffic offence reports, gave out a speed advisory, and dealt with anti-social behaviour involving youths on the High Street.
Police Promise to Keep Pressure on Crime
Inspector Mark Stubberfield said: “Residents have raised concerns about violent crime in Edenbridge. We’ve increased our police presence and are running regular operations to tackle burglary, vehicle theft, and drug offences. Since stepping up our response, crime rates in these areas have dropped. We’ll carry on patrolling to deter criminals and swiftly act on suspicious activity.”
