Kent Police uncovered a massive cannabis grow-op in Folkestone, seizing around 500 plants during a raid on Tuesday, 30 June 2020. The illegal farm was hidden in the basement of a Trinity Road building, with access blocked off by furniture to avoid detection.
Courts Crack Down on Class B Drug Producers
Mikel Buzi, 27, and Asllan Cenaj, 31, both with no fixed address, admitted producing cannabis at Canterbury Crown Court. Buzi was locked up for two years and three months, while Cenaj got two years behind bars after appearing before the judge on Thursday, 17 September.
Police Snagged Suspects Trying to Flee with Dog Support
The basement raid revealed 250 mature cannabis plants and 250 younger ones, alongside fertilisers, heat lamps, and ventilation equipment. Buzi and Cenaj were caught trying to escape the property, cornered with the help of a police dog. During interviews, Cenaj claimed he was just paid to tend the farm, while Buzi said he worked there to settle a debt.

PC Harry Russell, the investigating officer, said: “Kent Police is determined to keep drug dealing networks out of the county and disrupt and shut down any activity we hear of. I am pleased this operation has prevented a criminal group from profiting from this site. I urge anyone who thinks drugs may be produced or dealt in their area to contact Police.”
