Mum Admits Stabbing Three Toddlers in Chilling Huddersfield Attack
A 34-year-old woman has confessed to attempting to murder three young children, shocking the Huddersfield community earlier this year. In February, a four-year-old girl, a two-year-old boy, and a three-month-old baby were found with severe stab wounds at a local home.
Guilty Plea Made Via Video at Leeds Crown Court
The suspect appeared via video link at Leeds Crown Court last Friday. She pleaded guilty to three counts of attempted murder, bringing a grim chapter to a close — for now.
Mental Health Battle Complicates Case
Psychiatrists assessed the woman’s mental state and ruled she was not legally insane at the time, meaning she is fit to face sentencing. However, both experts agreed she was battling serious mental health problems during the attacks.
Defence barrister Abdul Iqbal KC confirmed, “The experts concluded the defendant was labouring under mental health problems when she committed these acts.”
Hospital Order Recommended as Judge Delays Sentence
A hospital order to provide the defendant with mental health treatment has been recommended. The length of the order will be decided after pre-sentence reports are prepared.
Judge Geoffrey Marson KC called for careful consideration before sentencing and remanded the woman in custody until the hearing.
