Woman Jailed for Sharing Terrorist Material in Plymouth Sting
Khadidja Benboukhemis, 41, from Plymouth, has been locked up for three years after pleading guilty to spreading terrorist publications. The guilty plea came after a major investigation led by Counter Terrorism Police South East (CTPSE), with backing from South West units and Devon & Cornwall Police.
Operation Uncovers Terror Links
Benboukhemis was first arrested on May 21, 2019, during a joint operation in central Plymouth. Police seized electronic devices from her home that revealed discussions about Daesh and showed she had shared extremist files via Telegram. She was rearrested in July 2019 and formally charged in December.
Hard-Hitting Warning from Cops
Detective Chief Superintendent Kath Barnes, head of CTPSE, said: “The evidence was overwhelming, leaving Benboukhemis no choice but to plead guilty. Sharing this kind of material is a serious crime, and anyone caught will face prosecution.”
She urged the public to stay vigilant: “If you notice suspicious behaviour, call your local police on 101. If you’re worried about someone acting differently or showing extremist views, visit the ACT Early website for help and advice.”
