Mum Dies After Horror Fire in Islington Flat – Murder Probe Underway
Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman died from severe burns sustained in a flat fire in Islington.
Early Morning Blaze in Noll House
Emergency services rushed to a call at 2.30am on Thursday, 5 July, after a fire broke out at a flat in Noll House, Corker Walk, N7. The London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade attended the scene.
A 43-year-old woman inside the flat suffered serious burns. She was taken first to a north London hospital, then transferred to a specialist burns unit. Despite heroic medical efforts, she tragically passed away on Tuesday, 21 August.
Her family have been informed, with a formal identification and post-mortem scheduled.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
Four other people were also taken to hospital as a precaution but none had life-threatening injuries.
Abdi Quule, 42, from Noll House, was found at the scene with burns. After treatment, he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Quule was charged on Saturday, 4 August, and appeared at Highbury Magistrates’ Court the same day. He was remanded in custody and is due at the Old Bailey on Thursday, 30 August.
Ongoing Investigation
The Central North Command Unit is leading the probe, with the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command involved. Enquiries remain ongoing as police work to uncover what sparked the devastating fire.
