20-Year-Old Locked Up After Armed Tesco Express Robbery

A 20-year-old man has been jailed for an armed robbery at a Tesco Express in Goring. Alfie Reedman, from Westergate Close, Ferring, pulled a knife on staff and stole hundreds of pounds in cash.

Multiple Robbery Attempts Spark Police Manhunt

The brazen robber struck at around 7:50am on Saturday, 21 October. Reedman then tried his luck the next day at two more shops in Salvington — The Welcome Store and the Salvington Food Centre in Worthing. Both attempts failed, and he was caught by police on Franklin Road.

Court Hands Down Tough Sentence

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 21 November, Reedman pleaded guilty to one count of robbery and two counts of attempted robbery. On 16 January, Lewes Crown Court sentenced him to 30 months inside a Young Offenders Institution.

He was also slapped with a five-year restraining order banning him from The Welcome Store and Tesco Express locations he targeted.

“Reedman’s actions caused serious distress to staff and shoppers,” said a court source. “The sentence reflects the severity of armed robbery.”
