Drama at Dawn: Man Scales 200m Crane in London Protest
The Met Police are on high alert after a man climbed roughly 200 metres up a crane near Battersea Power Station just before 4am this Tuesday (June 15).
The crane stands at One Nine Elms, the site of a whopping £1 billion development set to deliver a 200-metre luxury skyscraper. But the protester has no intention of coming down any time soon.
Silent Standoff Above Vauxhall Bridge
Officers have tried to communicate with the man, but he’s staying mum. According to a local eyewitness, the protester plans to stay perched “for days” overlooking Vauxhall Bridge.
A pro-Palestinian activist revealed the climber is 69 years old, engaging in a “death-defying, daredevil act of solidarity for Palestine” — with no safety net in sight.
Police Prioritise Safety Amid Road Closures
A Met spokesman said: “Our priority is the man’s safety. Officers are attempting to speak to him, but he has not engaged.”
Emergency services, including the London Fire Brigade, have been alerted. Roads around Nine Elms Lane remain closed, leaving drivers warned to find alternative routes.
