Man Punched from Behind in Late-Night Stevenson Square Brawl

Chaos erupted in Manchester’s Northern Quarter in the early hours of Sunday, June 19, as a 22-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being punched from behind.

Police were called at 2.20 a.m. following an altercation between two groups in Stevenson Square. The victim was knocked to the ground and rushed to hospital with severe wounds.

Police Seek Witnesses and CCTV Footage

Detective Inspector Geoff Machent from GMP’s Manchester CID said, “The victim’s injuries are really serious – we wish him well and our thoughts are with his loved ones.”

He added, “This happened in a busy area, so it’s likely most people around, including revellers and taxi drivers, saw something.”

Officers have CCTV images of a person of interest and are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
