Man accused of grabbing woman and demanding goods in Kent High Street
Woman targeted in bold street confrontation
Kent Police were alerted to a frightening incident on the High Street around 10.30pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2024. A man allegedly grabbed a woman’s coat and demanded she hand over items she had just purchased before following her into a nearby shop.
Quick-thinking shopper scares off suspect
The woman flagged down shop staff who intervened, causing the man to flee the premises. Police were called in to investigate the unsettling encounter.
Suspect arrested, police tie incidents together
Officers later arrested a 32-year-old man, who remains in custody as inquiries continue. They are also looking into a report of suspicious behaviour by a man in the same area earlier that evening, believing the two incidents are linked.
