Man Arrested After Hit-and-Run in Newham
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a serious collision in Newham.
Victim Found Unconscious at Scene
Police rushed to Hermit Road, near the junction with Grange Road, after a call came in at 11.07pm on Wednesday, 10 June. They found a 46-year-old man unconscious, apparently struck by a car. Emergency crews from the London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance treated him before rushing him to hospital. His condition is yet to be confirmed.
Driver Flees After Speeding Towards Victim
Police Sergeant Simon Biggs revealed witnesses saw a large black vehicle speed at the victim before fleeing the scene. “A car has since been seized and will undergo forensic checks,” he said.
“We don’t believe this was a random attack, but the motive remains unclear.”
Police Arrest 31-Year-Old Suspect
Following overnight enquiries, officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder. He is currently held at an east London police station awaiting questioning.
Meanwhile, roads remain closed around Grange Road between the junctions of Suffolk Road and Hermit Road as investigations continue.
