Man Murdered in Targeted Attack in Edinburgh
A brutal assault left Liam Maloney fighting for his life on Niddrie Marischal Road, Edinburgh, at around 8pm on Thursday, 5 May 2022.
He was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but tragically died two days later, on Saturday, 7 May 2022.
Police Treat Death as Murder, Investigation Underway
Following a post mortem, the death is being treated as murder. Liam’s family have been informed, and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
Detective Chief Inspector Frank Travers from the Major Investigation Team said: “This appears to have been a targeted incident and we do not believe there is any risk to the wider public.”
He added that police are scouring CCTV from the area and carrying out door-to-door inquiries, maintaining a strong presence locally.
Authorities Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Officers are appealing for anyone who was near the junction of Niddrie Marischal Road and Niddrie Marischal Grove on Thursday night to report anything suspicious or disturbances heard or seen.
