Man, 74, Stabbed to Death in SE9 Home
Police were called to a residential address in West Park, SE9, at 11:55am on Tuesday, 19 January after London Ambulance Service reported an injured man.
Officers arrived to find a 74-year-old man suffering a knife wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene just 30 minutes later at 12:25pm. Next of kin have been informed.
Young Suspect Arrested at Scene
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder at the property. He was taken to a south London police station and remains in custody.
The victim and suspect were known to each other, police confirmed.
Homicide Detectives Launch Probe
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Kieran, leading the homicide investigation, said: “At this very early stage we retain an open mind as to the circumstances surrounding this death. However, I can confirm we are not seeking any other persons in connection with the incident.”
A crime scene remains in place while enquiries continue. A post-mortem will be scheduled soon and formal identification is awaited.
