High-Speed Chase Ends in Dash for Cover

Police chased a vehicle hurtling dangerously along the A2 towards London at up to 120mph on Sunday, July 31, 2022, just after 4.30pm. The car finally stopped in Portman Close but the driver made a quick getaway on foot.

Suspect Found Thanks to Police Dog and Helicopter

Officers, aided by the National Police Air Service helicopter, tracked the suspect as he crossed six live lanes of the A2 into Dartford. Police Dog Fallon led her handler, PC Scott James, to a holly tree near Rochester Way where they found the 19-year-old Gravesend man.

Fake Gun Found and Multiple Charges

A suspected imitation firearm was recovered nearby on Trosley Avenue, Gravesend. The young man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, stealing a vehicle, and firearm possession.

He has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
