Acid attacker on the loose after brutal Clapham assault

A suspected acid attacker is still at large after a terrifying attack on a woman, her two young daughters, and several bystanders in Clapham, London.

Horrific assault on Lessar Avenue

The shocking incident happened at around 7:25pm on January 31, 2024, opposite Clapham Common. Witnesses say the attacker – thought to be known to the woman – began with a heated argument before viciously throwing a corrosive substance over her and her children.

Attack escalates to attempted vehicle assault

According to onlookers, the woman and attacker had been inside a white car before a violent fight broke out. In a chilling move, the suspect then tried to run the mother over with the vehicle. Horrified bystanders rushed to help, with the police and emergency services treating and transferring the injured to hospital.

Manhunt underway as police appeal for info

The exact corrosive substance used is still being tested. The National Police Air Service is involved in tracking down the attacker, with the investigation ongoing.

The Clapham community has rallied around the victims in the wake of this shocking crime.
