Police Crackdown Hits Sittingbourne This Weekend
Sittingbourne is bracing for a major police blitz after a spike in nuisance behaviour reports. Authorities are stepping up patrols to tackle trouble head-on.
48-Hour Dispersal Order Comes Into Force
Starting 4pm on Friday 17 March, a 48-hour dispersal order under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime, and Policing Act 2014 kicks off. It will last until 8pm on Saturday 18 March, giving officers the power to move troublemakers on and keep the peace.
Patrols Target Theft, Vehicle Crime, and Disturbances
Police will be highly visible in public spots across town – including busy retail parks – hunting down thefts, vehicle crimes, disturbances, and other anti-social antics.
Inspector Vanessa Foster, of Swale Community Safety Unit, warned: “We take all reports of anti-social behaviour seriously and residents shouldn’t have to put up with it. Additional patrols will be actively seeking to reduce any incidents of anti-social behaviour and will issue fines, make arrests, and charge offenders as necessary.”
She added: “I urge people to continue reporting incidents to us as they see it happen. The information is invaluable in ensuring any issues can be policed effectively.”
