Since 2007, DC Bevis has worked as a Family Liaison Officer (FLO), comforting more than 70 bereaved families from all walks of life. Known across the RTPC for her relentless professionalism and compassion, she’s become a beacon of hope during tragic times.

Another Hero Gets a Nod

Detective Constable Wendy Hunter also earned high praise, receiving the Livia Highly Commended Certificate for exceptional investigating and family liaison work. Her award was personally signed by the Prime Minister and The Viscount Simon — a rare honour.

The Story Behind the Award

The Livia Award was set up in 1999 by George and Giulietta Galli-Atkinson after their daughter Livia was tragically killed by a driver who mounted the pavement. The award recognises RTPC officers who deliver outstanding service in road death investigations and support to victims’ families — whether in a single case or over many.

Champions of Justice Praise Award Winners

Chief Superintendent Simon Ovens, operational head of RTPC, hailed the dedication of the officers:

“The role of a Family Liaison Officer is vital when someone has sadly lost a loved one. These officers lead by example. This award shows the true value of their work. We thank Giulietta and George for their ongoing support in memory of Livia.”

George and Giulietta Galli-Atkinson added:

“The Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command is famed for having some of the nation’s best investigators. For 22 years, the Livia Award has honoured serious collision investigators and FLOs who show integrity, professionalism, and relentless pursuit of justice. We’re proud to champion these outstanding officers.”
