Armed Felon on the Run in Powhatan County!
Powhatan residents are told to stay put this Thursday afternoon as cops hunt a dangerous, armed felon on the loose.
Lockdown in Powhatan and Goochland
At 3:46pm on July 11, the Powhatan County Sheriff’s Office ordered everyone near 4900 Cartersville Road to remain indoors due to ongoing “law enforcement activity.” Meanwhile, Goochland County residents in the Rock Castle and West View areas were also told to shelter in place as a precaution.
Who’s the Suspect?
The sheriff’s office updated the public at 4:08pm. They are hunting 36-year-old Chazz Lee Gordon from Powhatan. Gordon sparked a police chase after fleeing a felony traffic stop. The pursuit ended near Cartersville Road, where Gordon reportedly bolted from his car armed with a pistol and vanished into nearby woods.
Authorities from several counties, including Chesterfield, have joined the manhunt.

- Gordon is wanted for malicious wounding, firearm possession as a convicted felon, and brandishing a weapon.
- He’s described as a 6’2” Black man, around 175 lbs.
- Last seen wearing a tank top and grey pants.
- Residents must stay vigilant and report any sightings immediately.
