Gun Fired Outside Mosque in Seven Kings – Suspect Arrested
Police have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with a firearm discharge outside a mosque on High Road, Seven Kings. The drama unfolded on Thursday, 9 May, but the suspect was only detained over two weeks later, on the afternoon of Wednesday, 22 May.
Armed Man Sparks Chaos at Mosque
Officers were called at 10.45pm after reports that a man carrying a firearm had entered the mosque. Those inside quickly ushered him outside, where a gunshot was fired. Thankfully, no one was hurt and the mosque itself was left undamaged.
Blank Gun Used, Police Confirm
Ballistics analysis revealed the weapon was a blank-firing handgun. Despite this, the incident sparked alarm within the local community and sparked a multi-agency response.
Man Held on Multiple Charges
- Possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence
- Possession of a firearm
- Possession with intent to supply
- Assaulting a police officer (two counts)
The suspect remains in custody at an east London police station. Detectives from the Trident and Area Crime Command Unit continue their investigation.
