Tragic Wirral Baby to Be Laid to Rest After Golf Course Discovery
A baby boy, whose body was found dumped on a Wirral golf course in January, will be quietly buried today, Friday 21st May. The private funeral will take place at Landican Cemetery with only officials present.
Private Service as Investigation Continues
The burial is closed to the public. Officers from Merseyside Police, Wirral Care Commissioning Group, and Children’s Services will attend the service. A video link of the ceremony will be available for seven days for the family’s private viewing.
Body Found on Brackenwood Golf Course
The infant was discovered on January 29th near the 16th green of Brackenwood Golf Course in Bebington, tucked away in a wooded area. A post mortem failed to determine a cause of death. Police appeals to trace the child’s family have so far drawn a blank.
Police Plea to Mum and Family
Detective Chief Inspector Judith Blease said: “This has been a very difficult investigation for all involved. We have pursued multiple leads and made repeated appeals to find the baby’s family.
It’s right that, after four months, the baby is now laid to rest. Our investigation remains open, and I urge the mum and family to come forward for any support they may need.
“The community’s sympathy has been overwhelming, with many offering clothing and blankets. We ask everyone to respect the privacy of this service so it can proceed with dignity.”
“If mum is reading this, please come forward. It’s not too late. We can provide support, medical care if needed, and help bring closure to this sad case.”
