Bembridge heroes save dog walker’s life with quick-thinking CPR and defibrillator
The Bembridge community pulled together in a heart-stopping moment on Thursday, August 30th, when dog walker Mike collapsed with a heart attack on Forelands Road. Thanks to swift action from locals, Mike’s life was saved before emergency crews arrived.
Villagers leap into action
Mike was out walking his dog, Buddy, when he suddenly collapsed. Onlookers didn’t hesitate. Several brave villagers jumped in to perform CPR, while one quick-thinker dashed to nearby Limes Care Home to grab a defibrillator.
Others called 999, keeping Mike stable until paramedics and police arrived.
Rushed to hospital and fighting fit
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service swiftly transported Mike to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport. From there, he was transferred to Southampton for further treatment.
Thanks to the immediate, life-saving efforts of these unnamed heroes, Mike survived his heart attack and is now on the mend.
