Massive Emergency Operation on Knight Road

A large police cordon blocks off the area between Strood Retail Park and Morrisons on Knight Road as emergency services launch a major multi-agency search. The operation began just after 11am on Tuesday, 22nd October 2024, focusing on the river and banks behind the supermarket.

Kent Police, Coastguard and Fire Crews Join Forces

The scene is swarming with Kent Police, UK Coastguard, and Kent Fire and Rescue teams. Specialist units from the Kent Marine Unit and Fire & Rescue Technical Rescue Team are also on site, combing the water and riverside in a bid to recover a body.

Man Confirmed Dead – Family Notified

At around 3pm, Kent Police confirmed a man’s body was found near Knight Road. The deceased is believed to be a 25-year-old local man reported missing since Friday, 18th October. While formal identification is pending, his family has been informed. Authorities say there are no suspicious circumstances at this time, and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
