“An eight-year-old boy and a woman were taken to hospital with injuries, not believed to be life-threatening,” a GMP spokesperson said. “Armed Response Vehicles and GMP Dog Unit were deployed, and the dog has been safely detained.”

Residents Shocked As Armed Units Flood the Street

The usually peaceful street turned chaotic as armed officers and police dog units locked down the area. Multiple police vehicles and ambulances remained for hours while officers secured the scene and investigated.

Locals were left shaken by the daylight attack. One resident said, “It’s terrifying to think a child and his mum can be attacked like this in our own neighbourhood.”

Investigation Continues, Dog Breed Unknown

Police have yet to reveal the breed of the dog or whether it falls under the Dangerous Dogs Act. It is also unclear if the dog belonged to the victims or was roaming loose at the time.

Authorities urged anyone with information to come forward as inquiries remain ongoing.

Community Calls for Tougher Dog Safety Laws

Authorities remind the public to report any aggressive or uncontrolled dogs immediately by calling 999 in emergencies or contacting local police stations.
