Two men have been arrested after a breathtaking police chase that saw a car carrying a three-year-old child and a dog hit speeds of up to 150mph. The wild pursuit ended when the Audi A3 smashed into a lamp post on Bentley Street, Rochdale, leaving police shocked at the reckless danger posed to innocent lives.
13-Minute High-Speed Pursuit Across Rochdale
Greater Manchester Police revealed the dramatic chase began on Bury New Road, Heywood at 7:10pm and lasted 13 minutes, weaving through Rochdale, Whitworth, and back again. The Audi, packed with the child and a dog, crashed at high speed, yet miraculously, both emerged unscathed.
The child was immediately placed under police protection, while officers moved quickly to secure the scene and spring into action.
Two Men Arrested on Multiple Charges
The drivers were swooped on and arrested, facing charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, and possession of cannabis with intent to supply. The presence of a young child and a dog in the car has intensified outrage over the perilous stunt.
Inspector Richard Shelton of GMP’s Rochdale district slammed the offenders’ recklessness. “They put a child’s life and the public in grave danger,” he said. “Thanks to our swift response, we’ve safeguarded the child and taken these dangerous drivers off the road.”
