Nearly a Quarter of UK Teens Diving into Cryptocurrency
Kids Betting Big on Crypto for Their Future
A new report reveals that almost 25% of UK kids aged 13 to 16 have either invested in cryptocurrency or plan to do so. According to Internet Matters, 8% have already bought digital coins, while 15% are keen to jump in soon. Their main driver? Locking down financial security for the future.
But the charity behind the study warns that the crypto world is packed with risks and scammers. Simone Vibert, head of policy and research at Internet Matters, urged parents to have tough talks with their kids about the dangers lurking in this unregulated market. She also called on the government to step up its protection.

Treasury Minister Demands Bank Review Over Political Account Closures
Andrew Griffith, Economic Secretary to the Treasury, has called for a review of banks shutting accounts belonging to “politically exposed” individuals. This move follows claims from Nigel Farage, who alleges his accounts were closed for political reasons – though insiders dispute this.
Banks often flag politically exposed persons (PEPs) as higher risk due to potential corruption and bribery. They conduct extra checks but must balance this with fair access to banking for elected officials and their families. Griffith stressed the importance of fairness based on actual risks, not politics.
BT Axe Line Rental Saver Discount from July
BT is scrapping its Line Rental Saver scheme, which gave customers a £19.99 discount for paying a £219.84 annual home phone and broadband line rental upfront.
From July 21, no new sign-ups or renewals will get the discount. Existing customers who have prepaid will keep the deal until their period ends. BT assures broadband and other home phone prices remain unchanged.
To ease the blow, BT will credit all current Line Rental Saver customers with at least £10, automatically added to their accounts for future bills.
